How it works

From a planning record to your next move.

01

The council publishes

Planning authorities publish new applications and later record decisions on their public registers.

02

We pull and filter

We collect pending and approved records, then filter them to the work your trade quotes—extensions, lofts, roofs, glazing, renewables, landscaping and more.

03

Your report arrives

Your weekly email and CSV show the site address, proposal, application stage, relevant date and direct council-record link.

04

You review the fit

Check the source record, choose the opportunities that suit your business, and decide whether and how to approach them.

  • Sourced from the public registerEvery row links back to the council's own record, so you can check it yourself before you spend a stamp.
  • No names, no guessworkWe pass on the site and the approval, not the applicant's name. Your first letter must identify your business, state where the address came from and explain the opt-out route.

Coverage

Check your council.

Check your council before choosing a plan. An available council has successful pending and approved feed checks within the last 48 hours. We confirm the coverage for your trade before activation; a successful feed check is not a promise of new projects.

Wandsworth is awaiting a fresh coverage review after the council’s planning-system migration. You can still request availability.

Questions

The ones people actually ask.

Where does the data come from?

Local planning authorities keep public registers of applications and decisions. We collect from those registers and turn the records into a consistent, trade-focused list. Subscriber entries link back to the council record so you can verify the source.

Do reports include applications that are still pending?

Yes. Every plan includes both pending applications and recent approvals. The two stages are collected separately and clearly labelled. Coverage is sold only after both stages have been checked for the chosen council.

Is contacting these homeowners legal?

We design the lists for transparent postal marketing: they include the property address and planning information, but not applicant names. Your first letter must identify your business, say where the address and planning information came from, include the privacy URL and explain how the recipient can opt out. We suppress an address within five working days of an objection and apply that suppression across subscribers.

We do not provide homeowner email addresses or phone numbers. If you use other contact channels, your business is responsible for the rules that apply, including TPS screening for calls. This explains how The Patch List operates; it is not legal advice.

My council is not listed. Can I still register?

Yes. You can request any UK council. We use requests to prioritise collector coverage and contact you only after the feed, filtering and availability have been checked.

How is this different from the lead sites I already pay for?

The Patch List starts with council planning records rather than consumer enquiry forms. We narrow the records by council and trade, provide the source link, and let you judge which opportunities fit your business.

How quickly after a decision do I get it?

Weekly reports are sent on Monday. Daily delivery is available as a £20/month upgrade where the council's refresh timing has been verified. The national collector rotates through councils, so this is a rolling planning-data service rather than a real-time alert.

What is the difference between shared and exclusive?

Shared plans keep prices low and may be supplied to more than one firm. An Exclusive Patch reserves one council-and-trade combination for one active exclusive customer. Different trades can still reserve the same council because their reports are filtered differently.
